Sweet tamarind is a tropical fruit tree with feathery foliage and sweet-tangy pods. It's a lovely addition for gardeners who enjoy homegrown tropical flavors and an attractive canopy.
The pods have a sweet-tangy flavor used for juices, candies, chutneys and cooking. They add bright, tangy notes to sauces and beverages and are a staple in many tropical kitchens.
Prefers full sun and is heat- and drought-tolerant. Suited to USDA zones 9–11. Grows 15–25 ft, or will remain smaller when grown in a large container.
